Porsche planned to phase out the 911 product line as early as 1981 in favour of its new 928 company flagship, but the fan favourite’s sales remained so strong that they decided to keep it alive. The result was the Super Carrera. The 911 SC featured a 3.0 L aluminium engine, an upgrade in reliability over the previous generation’s magnesium casings, a 5-speed transmission, and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection.
